WHAT IS THE CPD REQUIREMENT IN ONTARIO?

From the LSO website “Under the Law Society’s CPD Requirement, lawyers and paralegals are required to complete at least 12 CPD Hours every calendar year. These CPD Hours consist of a minimum of 3 Professionalism Hours and up to 9 Substantive Hours. Between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2020, lawyers and paralegals are required to complete a total of 3 Professionalism Hours that focus on advancing equality, diversity and inclusion in the lawyer and paralegal professions. Each year thereafter, lawyers and paralegals must complete 1 Professionalism Hour that addresses issues of equality, diversity and inclusion. These hours count towards the 3 Professionalism Hours required each year.”  For more information see the LSO website. All LAWPOD episodes have been accredited by the LSO for Professionalism and we have noted which episodes have been accredited for EDI. DO LAWPOD EPISODES QUALIFY FOR ELIGIBLE CPD/CLE IN ALL PROVINCES?

Our content is intended to be educational, practical, and relevant to the practice of law and professional ethics and responsibilities of legal professionals throughout Canada. Content is accredited by the Law Society of Ontario as noted on each episode.  Many provinces outside Ontario use a self directed approach whereby accreditation is not required, and is up to the legal professional to ensure that the CPD/CLE activity meets their law society provincial requirements. If you are unsure whether a LAWPOD episode is eligible for CPD/CLE credit in your province, please consult your local law society rules and guidelines.
